Issue No. 3 of NC EDGE Magazine is a snowy December tribute to the coast, opening on a lighthouse dressed for the holidays before heading down the shoreline to the wild mustangs that graze the dunes of Shackleford Banks and a surfer easing into the water beneath the first light at Cape Hatteras. The issue closes at the weathered Kindred Spirit Mailbox on Bird Island, where visitors have been leaving notes for strangers for decades.
