Issue No. 16 of NC EDGE Magazine wanders the coast from a Shackleford Banks driftwood tangle at dawn to the black-and-white stripes of Bodie Island Lighthouse, with a wild Beaufort mustang named Carrot Top standing knee-deep in the marsh mud along the way. Wrightsville Beach and Holden Beach carry much of the issue in fishing boats, dock sunsets, and shoreline portraits, while a cormorant posed on a Hatteras Island piling and a grackle riding the Fort Fisher ferry round out the wildlife side of the collection.
